IFA Global Cafe: In Conversation with Ms Katie Smith Sloan. Health and social care systems around the world have been challenged by the brutal human consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. No system has been more affected than that of long-term care whether it is services in the home or residential facilities. One of the most significant social concerns of COVID-19 is the quality and safety of servies to and for older people. There is no question that this unprecedented crisis calls for extraordinary attention to the needs of those most vulnerable, that is, residents in the long-term care facilities.
As an international expert in the field of ageing as well as the LeadingAge`s President and CEO, Ms Sloan seeks common ground to address ageism and generates ideas to improve the current system of services and supports.
