Online: 21.-31.12.20: COVID-themed film festival by Flickers` Rhode Island International Film Festival

The Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival received funding to aid in the production of a special COVID-themed film festival for the month of December. This festival will highlight films from across the globe that have been produced over the past few months and feature the ongoing Pandemic as a part of their narrative or perspective.

With the goal of uniting the local and international community during these challenging times, Flickers seeks to spread awareness of the pandemic and create a virtual space for local and international filmmakers and audience members to connect and discuss ways in which we can help one another in navigating these redefining times.

We are calling this virtual Festival, "Between Takes," named after our long-running television series from the late 1980s and 1990s. Given the times we live in and the films that will be featured, we are calling it "A Cinema Fantasia." It will be an uplifting and positive salute to the power of the human spirit.

With the closure of movie theatres and the postponement of major Hollywood releases, here is a free opportunity to see brand new films. From short films, documentaries to feature films, "Between Takes" will have something for everyone, including kids programs.

The Festival is designed to present daily programming featuring international films that touch on resilience, creativity and hope. Most will have been made within the last 11 months during the pandemic when many communities were in quarantine. A total of 70 films will be available for streaming. The program will also include conversations with writers, journalists, producers, directors and actors.
